Donna Lincoln
29 years in education….a lifetime of love for music!
Donna Lincoln grew up in a musically inclined family that often gathered around the piano to sing hymns. Her musical journey began early—at age 9, she gave her life to Christ and then got busy!! She performed her first concert with The Joyful Aires and played for her sister’s wedding. By 11, she was serving as the accompanist for her home church, a role that expanded as she continued to play for various organizations throughout her youth.
During her school years, Donna’s passion for music flourished. She was the accompanist for the Iowa Park High School choir and actively participated in the A Cappella Choir, Show Choir, and Jazz Band. As a two-year Texas All-State Choir member, she earned a scholarship to Midwestern State University, where she majored in Music Education. There, she performed with multiple ensembles and accompanied numerous groups and soloists in recitals. She studied under Dr. Donald Maxwell, who taught vocal techniques rooted in the Cornelius Reid method from the New York Metropolitan Opera. Donna later pursued further studies in music education at the University of North Texas, focusing on voice under Dr. Cody Garner.
Professionally, Mrs. Lincoln dedicated 14 years in the classroom as a choral director in Iowa Park Junior High and High School, Cedar Hill Middle School and High School, Highland Park Middle School, and Allen ISD (Ford MS, Curtis MS, and accompanist for the high school). Her choirs consistently achieved top ratings at TMEA, UIL, and other festivals, including performing as an honor choir for TMEA. Beyond the classroom, she contributed as a church musician (both vocally and at the piano), adjudicator, guest conductor, choir clinician, accompanist, and vocalist.
In 2006, she earned a master’s degree in counseling, with a specialization in chemical dependency from Texas A&M and transitioned to a counseling role at Allen High School, while continuing to serve as an accompanist for the music program. In 2018, Donna and her husband moved to Cross Roads where Donna obtained an Educational Leadership certificate from Texas Woman’s University and served as Student Services Coordinator at Aubrey High school until her retirement from education in 2022.
Donna is married to Ward Lincoln. They have four married children and six grandchildren. She remains active in music throughout the community, and enjoys participating in the adult choir at Denton Bible Church, where they are members.
